Visit the Cattle Museum in the beautiful West Frisian village of Aartswoud! A 'living' museum in which numerous endangered old Dutch cattle breeds are preserved from extinction through purebred breeding. A museum with an educational center that tells visitors about the history of those old breeds and about dairy farming and rural life over the ages. A museum run by ten people with intellectual disabilities, who will lead as normal a social life as possible through their work.
Fairytale Wonderland

Fairytale Wonderland in Enkhuizen is the ideal day out for families and grandparents with young children. Peek inside the houses of the Gnome Village or be enchanted by the many famous fairy tale characters. In Violinde Castle, you see the fairy tale musical about the spoiled little princess. You can sail in the Bumper Boats, take a ride on a lifelike pony, or drive yourself in a real vintage car. For the true daredevil, there is the swing ship d'Avontuur or the Witches' Expedition where you take a virtual flight over the park. The park train chugs through the park and the Nostalgic Carousel spins its rounds. There is also a petting zoo and a large original playground. Various shops, a restaurant, and picnic areas complete the park.
West Frisian Ring Dike

This 126-kilometer long ribbon is a magnificent stage for cycling tours, culinary regional products, sports, culture, and recreation. West Friesland is the area in North Holland that is completely enclosed by the oldest dike in the Netherlands; the West Frisian Ring Dike. The dike is already 800 years old and connects the historic cities of Alkmaar, Hoorn, Enkhuizen, and Medemblik. The Ring Dike winds like a green route through the landscape and leads visitors of West Friesland along the wide landscape with its unique vistas, the typical ribbon villages with farmhouses, and the former VOC cities with their beautifully preserved city centers. A large part of the dike still forms the boundary between land and water, elsewhere the dike runs right through the land between polders and reclamations as a monument to centuries of struggle against water.

Castle Radboud
Medemblik
Count Floris V built a castle in the 13th century in Medemblik on the Almere, the present IJsselmeer. The castle was part of a series of five coercive castles to keep the rebellious West Frisians in check. The only castle that has been preserved is the castle in Medemblik.
In Castle Radboud is a unique museum dedicated to daily life in the Middle Ages. Through a number of themes, visitors are introduced in a playful and informative way to the life of the medieval person; how they lived, what they ate, how they dressed, etc.

There is a restaurant with delicious coffee, a separate play area for the little ones, reading corner with magazines, free wifi & parking, and parents pay no admission.
